Trailseekers

Trailseekers provides at-risk children in the Tri-Cities area with hope, help, and a sense of direction when they are not receiving this support at home or school.  The Trailseeker program teaches skills designed to prevent the involvement of these children in the state social service systems such as Child Protective Services and the juvenile court system.  Through group meetings, home visits, recreational activities, and regular mentor contacts with local committed teenagers, Trailseekers promotes character building; development of a strong moral base; spiritual awareness; encouragement of scholastic achievement; creativity; leadership; personal living skills; interpersonal skills; environmental responsibility; and empowerment to make appropriate responses to drugs, alcohol, crime, violence, etc.  KFPC has been involved in Trailseekers since 1990 by providing teen mentors and adult volunteers, and provides funding support for annual programming.

Kathy Owen and Bernie and Connie Patterson are congregational contacts for Trailseekers.
