Adult Classes
Sunday Morning Classes, 9:45-10:45 a.m., March 18 - May 20
Kergyma
Instructor: Ed Thornton
Over a period of four quarters this class provides a comprehensive review of the Old and New Testaments, with the goal of gaining a more in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Bible. Each quarter is self-contained, so students may join us without having attended previous sessions.
Prayer
Facilitators: John Westleigh
Come and pray. There is no agenda for this class, other than opening with scripture. All attending will have the opportunity to pray aloud or simply spend time in silent prayer as led by the Holy Spirit.
With All Your Heart / The Path to the Cross
Facilitators: Kathy Dechter and team
Do you remember where your blessings come from? In Exodus, God warned Israel to remember him when they left the dry desert and reached the fertile fields of the Promised Land. In this thought-provoking Ray van der Laan DVD course, With All Your Heart, we will see how quickly the Israelites forgot God and began to rely on themselves.
God’s story continues in The Path to the Cross as we see how the passionate faith of the Israelite people prepares the way for Jesus and his ultimate act of obedience and sacrifice at the cross. You will be challenged in your own life to live as they did—by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Inquirers’ Class
If you are not yet a member of Kennewick First Pres and want to explore that opportunity, the Inquirers’ Class is the place to do it! This eight-week series of lectures and small group discussions, led by Pastor Rob, Jim Cochran and Jack Beaujon, will touch on faith, church history, our life support systems, our current ministries at KFPC, and spiritual gifts. Please mark your calendars, join us and become more active in our First Pres family. For more information, contact Jim Cochran. No text required.
Reading the New Testament
Facilitator: Tjerk Straatsma
Join us as we prepare for a congregation-wide focus on reading the entire New Testament which is planned for the 2012/13 Sunday School year. This class will focus on preparing an extended team of teachers and facilitators to lead this endeavor next year. Any one interested is encouraged to sign up and participate. This will be a great opportunity to help improve our collective knowledge of Scripture.
Be Moore Women's Bible Study
Facilitator: Pastor Kriss Bottino
Brave Honest Questions Women Ask by Angela Thomas based on her book "Do You Know Who I Am? And Other Brave Questions Women Ask"
This Bible study for women looks at the heart of what women are thinking and feeling. Angela looks boldly at some of the fears and struggles of being a woman, and she helps us see how we can be brave in the face of those challenges. Questions like:
* Why can't I get it together?
* Am I as invisible as I feel?
* What am I so afraid of?
It takes a brave woman to ask these questions and dig into these topics alongside other believers. We've all got insecurities, flaws, and struggles that we're afraid to address. But if we can be brave enough to raise the questions, God will answer us. You've got questions. God's got answers. Be brave. Ask.
Wednesdays 9:30-11:30 am | March 21 - May 9 (Spring break off) | Room 210, First Pres Center | Childcare provided with sign-up | Cost $20.00
Pastor Rob's Thursday Bible Study
Thursday’s 10:00 – 11:00 am
Join us as we continue on in our study of the book of Acts. According to Louis Quetel, Acts should come with a warning label reading, "If you are open to God, this witness will call you to new life." Why? Acts reveals the Holy Spirit as the driving force behind all meaningful ministry in Jesus’ name. Where do we look for spiritual power today? Education? Work? Religious heritage? Acts calls us to a Spirit-filled life. Study guides for this class are available at the Information island.
